I'm wondering. Seriously. Among the folk on this list who are
grasping my p=
oint, is it worth discussing Lion-Taming 101, or Elementary
Self-Confidence=
for Cooks? I don't want to sound like one of those carnival-barking
motiva=
tional speakers, don't wanna give no group hugs (well, maybe one) or
gaze i=
nto any crystals, but I do think there's an element in the whole
dayboard/c=
ook situation that says that those who do the work are leaders of
the commu=
nity. So I ask you, is this worth getting into? Or am I simply a
crazed, po=
	wer-mad, peer in an apron?

Yes, you are a crazed, power-mad peer in an apro...oops, no! no! what I
meant to say was I think Elementary Self-Confidence for Cooks is to my mind,
the single biggest obstacle with a lot of people who have helped with feasts
but not run them.

Unfortunately a lot of potential Head Cooks seem to get scared off. I
remember when I first started out I had a very fragile ego about my feasts
(I now have a Teflon apron ;-) Getting someone to Co-cook seems to work, but
you really need to do the logistics and scheduling together and I think a
great deal of that has to do with personality and a willingness to admit
lack of knowledge and a need for help - something few of us (including
myself) find easy to do.

For example, trying to get someone else to run a feast in my Shire is like
pulling teeth - admittedly we are a very small Shire, but the only person
who will is my Laurel! I did ask one person to head cook Lammas feast this
year but she said she didn't want to because she didn't feel she was up to
doing a multi-course authentic feast, and that was what people were now used
to and expected. I was working on her and almost getting there when she
moved to another Shire! Argh.
