I've always despised "candied fruit peel"  (It isn't fruit peel, you
know.  It's those translucent colored erasers that we all wanted in grade
school.  They couldn't erase for anything, but you could see through
them.)  I put  in dried apricots instead.  Along with the glace cherries
and pineapple, dates, raisins and currants, and the nuts...

Everybody eats my fruitcake.
