*blink* That's the first time I've heard anyone say that. Legacy
non-hybrid varieties tend to have specific strengths and weaknesses by
variety, and there may be some plants were all the older varieties are
more susceptible to a specific pest, but in general the trick is supposed
to be to pick the most resistant legacy variety based on the pests in your
area.
