Mostly, I instigated it out here because [1] I like the Fuji TV program, and
[2] other people do too, so [3] it might make a vehicle for introducing a
competitive and entertaining aspect to arts competition. I've gotten some
sharp criticism from more historically pure personages, but the response in
person has been wonderful, particularly by the fighter types who used to think
"arts are boring".

You ought to see my earlier work, "Heraldic Jeopardy." I'm thinking of
re-tooling that into "The Weakest Link" -- I've got a gal pal with the right
accent and snarky attitude to host.

Anahita: congrats anyway and you'll always be a ryori-no-tetsujin to me!

Late last year and with NO knowlege of Anahita's contest, I challenged the most
recent Cooking Laurel in Caid to "Battle Garlic" for this coming August, since
I knew both of us were fond of the erstwhile "Stinking Rose". Any yeoman
warrior wishes to hone his skills against the undoubted champion in the hall,
aye? This is going to be a real challenge. I don't expect to win but will do
my utmost, and the results we'll leave to the judges, some experts and some
raffle winners.

Selene, Caid
