[Sca-cooks] Pears

Help! I came home from an event with a huge container filled with pears.
Someone's tree seems to be producing heavily and I was blessed with some of
that bounty. Maybe 10lbs worth. Since I'm not well versed in the area of
preservation I need to ask for some ideas on how to best make use of these
while they are fresh. Actually they mostly seem a bit under ripe. Can Pears
be frozen? I've put up apple slices in the freezer with my Mom before but was
wondering if I could do this with the Pears. Getting a batch of Pear cordial
was suggested...another area yet undiscovered.
