A bit? A bit???

This was actually some of the first of the more recent anime (as in,
being "anime" as opposed to simply Japanese cartoons) that I had
seen. I remember the most jarring thing about it was a character that
I didn't clearly remember from the books, whose hair stood out in
enormous spikes and communicated entirely by screaming in a bad
Southern (as in U.S.) accent. But later, I came to realize that as
much as 20% of all characters in anime seem to fit this description...

>Lucrezia (big fan of the Guy Gardner school of Green Lanterning)

Guy is a little before, and a little after, my time. What I've heard
of him suggests he's given to breaking the rules (sometimes, but not
always, a good thing) and that he's got an uncontrollable temper
compared to the other Lanterns. [For those who don't know what the
h**l all this is about, it should be noted that, as with Lenses, what
makes you a Green Lantern is that you have a Green Lantern and the
ring that goes with it -- I gather that more recently the actual
lantern has become semi-optional -- and if you're able to wield them,
you're a Green Lantern, so several people have filled the role over
the years.]

I've been a John Stewart GL partisan for a long time now, and was
very glad to hear he's the version used in the new(ish) JLA cartoons.
Kyle Rayner, the current GL, who's "mundanely" a cartoonist, is also
a good one.
