Nanna gave a number of interesting details about Iceland and closed with:

However, you have to start somewhere. I commend the people of Iceland
for making this effort. Bringing in what is good from modern civilization,
while holding on to the good of the old traditions and restoring what
has been lost through ignorance or necessity can require quite a
balancing act.

And personally, I commend you for your studies and work with
traditional Icelandic cooking culture and hopefully that will
help preserve some of that tradition. This tradition seems to
mirror the history of the people showing ingenuity and adaptation
to overcome a harsh environment, yet not an unchanging one. An
environment changed by both global effects and man caused ones.
Hopefully the world at large can learn by studying the microcosm
that is Iceland.

Often the path is winding and reverses course for a time. Unfortunately,

I think my own country is currently in one of those turns for the
worse with its head (or at least its executive's head) in the sand.

Ooh. Get me off this soapbox...
