[Sca-cooks] Acclaim

Back when I routinely cooked and/or assisted in the kitchens,
I usually was the one in mundane dress. T-shirts and jeans.
No Tudor sleeves in the way, no trains to trip over, no corsets to deal
with. I came to work and was not dressed to play. If I got hot and
sweaty through the course of the day, I changed to a fresh shirt and
kept on doing what needed to be done. If we needed someone to run out
and get something, I was ready to go with a list and car keys in hand.
It always seemed to me to be more efficient and comfortable. By the time
the feast was being served and at the end where the cooks would be
called forward, I was always of the mind that it was time to be getting
everything packed up and ready to go. Accolades are for long afterwards
when the kitchen is back to normal and cleaned.
