[Sca-cooks] OT - earliest belt loops?

I know, for fashionable menswear, it's after the Regency period
(1811-1820.) They show up by mistake occasionally on Regency romance novel
covers and cause a certain amount of fuss and complaint.
For practical, non-fashionable wear? I don't know.
