The thing is, as a non-native English speaker, I am still beffudled,
bedraggled, confusededed and dazed about the meaning of the word...
It took me a long while to realize that "good" was implied in the word,
since I've taken Webster's first definition of the word "to manage the
actions of (oneself) in a particular way" Which doesnt' imply good or
bad. Besides, good and bad are *so* out of focus concepts....
As Webster says again, "to conduct oneself in a proper manner". But what's
proper in many places is not quite so in others.... <shrug>
Looking up Merriam Webster online:
Main Entry: be·have
Pronunciation: bi-'hAv
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): be·haved; be·hav·ing
Etymology: Middle English behaven, from be- + haven to have, hold
Date: 15th century
transitive senses
1 : to manage the actions of (oneself) in a particular way
2 : to conduct (oneself) in a proper manner
intransitive senses
1 : to act, function, or react in a particular way
2 : to conduct oneself properly
