[Sca-cooks] SCA Politics

Sieggy after 21 years at this game, you have to let
the politics (no matter how nasty) roll off of you.
In any group there are not very nice people and you
can't let them ruin your fun. Over the years I've
found that these are the people who think of the SCA
as their entire lives. Of course elsewhere these can
be the same people who think of one company or one
church or one professional organization as their
entire raison d'etre.
There have been times when I've gotten frustrated,
especially when someone I cared about was treated
badly, but I won't treat others the same way either
here or IRL.
I left for a little while, I had very intensive school
and work and I wanted to spend what little free time I
had with my spouse. I was very involved in a
professional Chef's organization at the time, same
thing, I watched some people who saw the organization,
not their profession as their primary goal, and
hurting people to gain power didn't bother them. I'm
still involved with the group, I'm still involved here
and even if someone decides you are the target of
ire...SO WHAT? If you keep your head up high and
behave in an honorable way yourself there is nothing
that anyone can say about you in the long term.
It's the same in any semi-organized group. Let it go.
