Fellow Cooks--
As many of you already know Princess
Alys Katharine has long been a devoted
practitioner of the art and craft of
Sugarpaste and the sugar confectionery
arts, therefore it was thought to be most
fitting to host the following....
---------------------------------------
In honor of Her (Soon-to-be) Most Royal
Majesty Alys Katharine's long interest in
the art, science, and craft of
Sugarpaste and Confectionery,
We would like to invite all Citizens of the
Midrealm and honoured Guests of other kingdoms
to participate in a display of such works of
Sugar and Sotletie and Subtleties
as they might devise and bring [or send]
to the Coronation of Alys and Valharic on
Saturday, April 13th, AS XXXVI (2002 CE)in
The Barony of the Cleftlands.
-----------
Please note that this is a display, not a contest.
Documentation is not required, although it would be
welcome. Too often in the course of cooking for events, we
cooks are just too busy to deal with the question of special
sotleties, so this presents a grand opportunity to create
something special or work on some aspect and display it.
Please feel free to bring works in progress.
Experiments are welcome. If you are a newcomer or novice,
this is a perfect opportunity to try a piece or two and
bring them along for a display. Children's sugarpaste or
sugar confectionery items would be most welcome and
appreciated. Guild or group projects are welcome.
While we are hoping for lots of sugarpaste, almost any
edible art/craft would be welcome, so if you carve, say,
nifty dragons from fruits, please feel welcome to display
your work here. Marzipan, comfits, confections, molded jellies,
any would be welcome. Do you have photo's of previous sotleties?
Feel free to bring those along to display.
You may donate edible works to the feast or transport them
back home with you. And while the theme of the Coronation
is Byzantine in theme, please feel free to bring any sugarpaste
or other edible creation, be it Byzantine or not.
We are hoping for a large display of pieces
to honor Queen Alys on Her Special Day.
