In the Hastings bargain section, I picked up an interesting gardening
sourcebook for $3.99:

The Home Gardener's Source
by Solomoon M. Skolnick
1997, ISBN 0-679-75477-6
over-sized paper

The book is divided into sections by item: grasses, heirlooms, herbs,
perennials, tools, trees, vines, etc In each section, there is a brief
reading list (which does not include ISBNs) which includes a summary.

Under Heirlooms and Restoration Gardening they list the following books
on period (OOP for SCA use) US gardens:

Early American Gardens: For Meate or Medicine (17th c.) by Anne Leighton
American Gardens in the 18th c.: For Use or For Delight by Anne Leighton
American Gardens in the 19th c: For Comfort and Affluence by Anne Leighton
For Every House a Garden: Reproducing Period Gardens, Rudy & Joy Favretti
includes garden plans and plant lists
Landscape & Gardens for Historic Buildings by Rudy & Joy Favretti
     colonial to 1930 gardens
The Heirloom Garden by Jo Ann Gardner
selecting & growing info, plant & nursery lists and gardens to visit
The Historical Gardener: Plants and Garden Practices of the Past
     quarterly newsletter
The Southern Heirloom Garden: the Heritage, the Plants, and the Designs by
Wm Welch and G. Grant.
practical info on restoration and re-creation

Each of the chapters names US companies that specialize in that
chapter's topic. The contact info for each resource is in the back of the
book: address, phone, fax, catalog cost (but does not include email or web
info).

The end of the book is a 119p index of US gardening resources. The
first part of the index is a 64p guide to stores/resources by state and
the latter part is a 55p alphbetical list.

I'm sure this index will have the heritage seed info that you seek.

I have not looked for a more recent copy of this book. You may be able to
find one at your local bookstore or library - InterLibrary loan comes to
mind.

Happy hunting

Ariann
