[Sca-cooks] What would you advise?

I have been reading this discussion on Allergies with great interest as I am
allergic to all peppers of new world origin. In addition to that I'm on a
very restricted diet due to a couple of cornice medical conditions. This is
my problem and to a certain extent Bear's as he does most of the cooking at
home.
 If there are ingredient lists available, I can decide if there are enough
dishes that I can have and buy into the feast, otherwise I just bring my
own.  I am also a fairly light eater and fill up fast so skipping half the
food is not a big deal for me. But the problem is MINE not the cooks. It is
my responsibility to know what I can eat, not someone else's. That being
said, when we do a pot luck around here most people will tell me ahead of
time if I shouldn't touch something and a couple come up and say they have a
portion set aside that I can have, It's wonderful to be so loved. Margarite
