Adamantius, to see a cattail in NYC go over to Historic Richmondtown on
Staten Island. In back of the Voorlezer House (one of the oldest
buildings in NY and the oldest schoolhouse @ 1670?) is a swamp. Right
there, in said swamp are cattails. The cattails don't look like the
fragmites (sp?), which are the plum-y grass things that are a bane to
cattail habitat.

When you DO go over, let me know and I'll set you up for a personal tour
of Richmondtown.
