I, of course, do not naturally have a high, nasal voice, but I have
cultivated it in the style of many of the great Roman orators...

Both Caesar and Cicero are specifically mentioned as having rather
squeaky voices when engaged in public speaking. I assumed the
professional rhetorician David Friedman simply fell into this category.
