I don't know about feed content- the trout I caught as a girl in western
Washington were pink-fleshed, and you can bet they weren't eating
shrimp! I think it is a regional variation on species.
They are yummy, by the way, and much tastier that the whitefish we pulled
out of the rivers sometimes. Or crappie, which were wide and flat and
mostly bones...
Trout, grilled with some lemon and dill, maybe a little savory... YUM.
