But then the question begs -
Of the herb forms, what is the dosage for medical use.
How does this dosage differ from the amount used for culinary purposes [say,
.5 to 1 tsp per 8 servings seems to be a common 'culinary' quantity for many
herbs.]

Of these herbs in the essential oil form, what is the dosage for medical
use?
Is there any culinary use for these herbs in the essential oil form [for
pennyroyal, I can see using the oil extract in pommanders for flea and moth
abatement, but I can't see any culinary use for them.]

the quote starts here:
and found that rue and pennyroyal herbs
were not significantly effective but that oil of rue and oil of pennyroyal
(the 19th century abortifacents) did have some small effect. I believe
the article in question (I'm looking at the OCLC record for the books) is
"Pharmacological properties of emmenagogues: a biomedical view" by
Stefania Siedlecky

So I still wouldn't cook with it for general consumption-- or with
pennyroyal-- but for an A&S entry, CLEARLY LABELLED, it seems like it
might be ok.
