[Sca-cooks] Medieval adhesives- OT, sorta

Given the wide variety of concoctions and recipes for
same that folks on this List tend to sort through in
their researches, has anyone run across much in the
way of medieval adhesives?

I'm looking for something with reasonable bonding
strength which might retain some flexibility for
bonding leather.
