Erm.  Speaking as the peer of Padraig's household, rest assured that this
scenario has indeed taken place.

I do that in the event of extra guests at supper
or the need for an extra soup pot.  A couple tins of corned beef and
a stray cabbage has kept our hospitality tradition intact of an occasion!
OK, it's not my usual High Gourmet Standard but
we always feed the hungry, and beggers can't be choosers.
He who liketh it not, he may sally forth and seek some other chophouse.

I will try that recipe sometime soon.
