[Sca-cooks] Loud Voices ands Volunteering

I'd like to emphasize that this is the best way to have FUN at an event too.
Volunteering is the greatest way of meeting people, and keeping from being
bored in the world. I remember one young man coming back from Pennsic and
complaining that he had had no fun at all, and was made to feel like an
outsider. I asked if he had done any heraldry, helped at troll, or any of
the other inclusive things. No, he had just wandered around and hoped to
fall in with someone who was interesting.

In my experience, "interesting" people are out doing things and are then
willing to talk enthusiastically to anyone if they know them or not.

I agree...and, to take the edge off of what I said in my last message...I do
volunteer to do other things. I'll be helping the Chirugeons by doing some
of their broadcast work, I usually volunteer for a shift or two at Troll, as
well as the A&S tent...and I'm teaching a class.
