I have alot of irises(mostly white). In fact, I am overun with them . (They
grow like weeds at my house). I have found that they can be divided at any
time. I have done this in the spring, summer, and fall, whenever they
threaten to overrun their beds. I, then, bring them to a different bed and
pop them in the ground. All have taken root.

Feel free to mishandle them, it doesn't seem to hurt them at all.
