We had a great deal of success with _Protein Power_ by Drs Michael and Mary Dan
Eades.
It isn't so much a HIGH protein diet as an Adequqte protein diet.  It is
customised for each individual to give you adequate protein for YOUR muscle
mass and does not recommend constantly exceeding that number.
It also starts off with strcter limits on carbohydrate intake, but gradually
weans you into a more regular level of calorie intake, promoting a sensible
eating lifestyle change in the long run.

We were doing quite well on the plan.  I has lots of energy and lost a fair bit
of body fat.  Unfortunately, I eventually fell back on my nemisis - dessert as
a food group.  Of course, that's my own fault (I have LOTS of will power, it's
WON'T power that I'm short of)
