[Sca-cooks] Feast Ambience

Hmmmm. Decorative banners. Nifty fabric hung to hide mundanities. Candles,
if they're allowed (not all sites around here allow even enclosed flames,
let alone candles). Our Barony has some really nifty pedestal
candleholders that we draped with grape vines for the Italian-themed 25th
anniversary event. Tabards for the servers. Dimming the lights, if
possible. Musicians (the current reign frowns on anything else during a
feast, as usually nobody can see or hear what's going on). No juggling,
not after a 12th Night where somebody engaged jugglers with flaming
torches without clearing it with anybody first. One of the jugglers
dropped a torch, and it almost set my husband on fire. All of our events
have themes, so the feast usually follows the event theme.

Also, lately there have been contests at events for the best table setup.
That seems to encourage people towards spiffy period tableware, although I
have yet to find anyone else who uses an aquamanile and has everyone wash
their hands before the meal.
