The absolutely best way to cook bacon is in a large free-standing broiler,
like the old Black Angus, one of the kind with a door, so the cats can't
reach in.  You place the bacon on the rack-slid-over-a-drip-pan, insert it
way down at the bottom of the broiler, turn the heat down pretty low.  Give
it about 15-20 minutes, and you have perfect bacon, and a drip-pan full of
clear, wonderful bacon drippings.

They don't make those old broilers any more, darn them.  I suppose that you
could use a toaster oven....
