You can purchase both a facsimile of the 1805 edition
and the Dover edition for $11.00. Food Books has them
both-- see http://www.foodbooks.com/facsimil.htm

It's the not the first American printed cookbook, but it is
the first cookbook written by an American woman.
No, it's not the first directed towards women as readers.
The titles by Hannah Woolley were intended for women;
they were written in the 1660's and 1670's. And there
are a number of others that are addressed towards women
and housewifes that date prior to the publication of American
Cookery in 1796. It's certainly worth owning, but not knowing
exactly which or when this facsimile was published, I can't
say if 12.95 plus shipping would be a good price or not.
Certainly the deal by Joe Carlin at Food Books is a good
one. My 1805 reprint from him was even autographed by Karen
Hess which is another plus.
