Adult Amish men grow only a beard on their faces. Having a beard is
mentioned several times throughout the Bible.

When an Amish couple gets married, they do not exchange wedding rings. After
the wedding the Amish man does not shave his beard after; a long beard is
the mark of an adult Amish man.

Mustaches, on the other hand, have a long history of being associated with
the military, and
therefore are forbidden among the Amish people.
