[Sca-cooks] Planting in my garden

Well, I was finally able to get into my gardens last night and take a
look at what came back, what didn't make it, and where the holes
are that need to be filled in.

The sage is doing wonderfully. As are the garlic/chives (they
crossbred), winter savory, and purple coneflower.

I lost one of my lavenders, my rosemary, and all of my thymes.
And it was a mild winter too. Perhaps its because I didn't get
the garden buried under leaves as deeply as I usually do.

But I have a question about Saffron. I planted the bulbs last fall -
they all shot up and had lovely green spikes of leaves - no flowers.
And this spring the leaves were starting to spike up again. Last
night I noticed that the leaves are all kinda hanging over. Having
never grown Saffron before - does it go dormant during the summer?
And the leaves grow back when the weather again starts to cool down?
Or should the leaves remain spiky and upright all summer long?

So, my shopping list for the weekend includes: rosemary, parsley (potted-
to keep it away from the darn rabbits), some more thyme (I love the lemon).
And perhaps some hyssop or summer savory. And some more lavender.

Some dill and anise for the ditch out front. Did I mention my lovage is
four feet tall already? And the yarrow is threatening to overrun its garden?
