Just a few months ago, the first (of many) couple moved out to the Centre
to join the volunteer staff.  Jon still works his job  in town, but Z (Zona)
is out
working on the site every day.  Another couple intends to be out here in
about a year.   The site development is being done by volunteer help (mostly
on weekends but a few of the active volunteer staff are building permanent
cabins for themselves back in the woods.  It would not surprise me if a few
students decide to spend the summer at the Centre camping & working on
facilities.
Eventually we will develop a retirement village across the road for SCA and
other re-enactors who want to live next to the Centre.  We have nice
camp grounds cleared out and the feasthall has really nice accessible
bathrooms
now with hot showers.  The feasthall will serve as a gathering spot every
night
as we will soon have the kitchen up and running.   None of the staff is paid,
but
we are getting a lot done and folks learn a lot.   I hope when the big
Italian
gardens are laid out, there will be some folks who want to help build the
pattern layouts and brick the bedwalls.  It will take about 5 years I suspect
to develop all 3 180' x 180' patterns and plant the allees.  Its a big project
and
will have 500 to 700 period species and varieties.  By then of course, the
orchards will be producing well.
