[Sca-cooks] Cloche Oven Results

Ok, first things first, got the cute little grill put together. Didn't
realize the charcoal goes on top of the smaller grill inset, not in the
bottom of the pot belly.....couldn't get enough heat to rise. Put in more
charcoal, didn't get hot enough, fixed that, bread in cloche oven browned on
one side only.... too windy so not enough ambient heat.

Sigh..... fixed charcoal again and got it away from the wind, turned bread
over.....since it was baked on the bottom. Waited......... finally got oven
up to 250 degrees inside, bottom of the cloche oven cracked in half, too
much heat! #$*&%#*$ Not sure I like sourdough bread all that much
anymore.....

But.... Inside on a lovely gas stove we heated up the cast iron griddle,
made an Irish Soda Bread (OOP I know) and made the most lovely toasted
scones and served them up with lime curd. We also baked
cardamom/cinnamom/nutmeg bread, fennel/green peppercorn bread, lemon/pepper
bread and a lovely very garlicky loaf!!! The inside oven works just fine!
<g>

So, next weekend it's lamb and beef jerky with various marinades, Lamb Stew
on Sunday, and trying out unleaved flat breads on the griddle on the cute
pot bellied grill with the charcoal in the damn right place!!! <g>

I do love experimenting and if anyone has a fabulous flat bread recipe I'd
love to hear it, crawled through the florilegium and Cariadoc's site but
didn't see a flatbread recipe.
