[Sca-cooks] Story about carrots!

These are probably very similar to the "Beta-sweet" carrots developed by
one of the big agriculture scools in the US (Texas A&M?).  The purple
coloring seems almost like it has soaked inward from outside and didn't
quite make it to the pith of the carrot.

They get a little mushier when cooked and taste slightly sweeter, but
otherwise are pretty normal.  I made a batch of honey-glazed carrots with
them a while back and they tasted just fine.  If they're anything like the
period varieties then I'll be thrilled if they start selling them in the US.

The (secondary) sources I've seen agree that carrots didn't get to England
until the 15 century, but then again maybe they used the same sources.
