It seems to me that any sorts of elaborate shoes (medieval or not) are
the first thing that go as we get older. I have noticed a lot of laurels
in costuming that are wearing very sensible modern shoes under the gowns
these days. Given the amount of walking at events or standing on our
feet in kitchens, it seems the practical way to go. It seems to me that
Olwen's shoes were quite practical and were probably comfortable as
well.
