Actually, I have developed a theory that some people adhere to
non-mainstream cultures because they want to have an excuse for a chip on
their shoulder rather than they have the chip because of the difficulty of
adhering to a non-mainstream culture. I know it's certainly true of enough
Pagans that I avoid mentioning my preference, usually. I suspect it might be
true of vegans, too. One of the things I've learned from a certain cooking
List I'm on (not this one) is that if people have chips on their shoulders,
it's usually deserved, though seldom for the reasons they state ;-)
