How did you make the crust? Did you follow the recipe you sent us? It
sounds (from  your description of the result) like perhaps you used a
liquid other than butter for the binding element... water might make
it turn into cement! Also, perhaps overworking the crust part could
make it tough --

Otherwise, the recipe sounds sound... hmmmmmmmm.
