This depends on what era or geographical area of cookery you want to
investigate. French? Italian? English? Arabic?
It also depends on what you can spend. Do you want only in print books
or are you willing to look for used books? Do you want books with lots
of text and information and few recipes or works with recipes only? Do
you read and want works in languages other than English?
Do you want to interlibrary loan certain volumes to see if you like them
before buying? If you want, you can think about these questions and
e-mail me for an individual list better suited to your needs and budget.
