You don't (or at least, a lot of us don't). The central/southern area
of our kingdom (clustered around the barony in SLC) has several shires
and a couple of cantons within a couple hours travel of each other, but
otherwise, we're really spred out. It forces you to prioritize--travel
up to 16 hours for really important/big events, and shorter distances
for schmoozing events and local stuff. (Yeah, 16 hours....a number of
folk from our most southerly [I think] branches in Colorado came up to
Montana for Crown this past weekend.)
The longest did-it-in-one-weekend trip I've personally heard of was
undertaken by several folk from my barony about 10? years ago. They
travelled down to Aten Collegium on Friday, attended the event on
Saturday, and drove back on Sunday. Just to prove they could.
See...we're in northwest Montana, and the Collegium was in Arizona, and
it was a 24 hour trip each way.
