Well, with my job ending in 30 days, I have been putting in internal
'requests for transfer' to various other regions.

For the heck of it, I put one in for the bay area, as I have a number of
friends there, and an actual cousin there that I can couch-impose
shamelessly with ;-)

I also blew off some morning hours on homestore.com looking at apartments
there.

No way would I spend 500 a month for a studio apartment that SHARES a
bathroom with another apartment. Then there is teh same building where you
have a bathroom all to yourself, but no kitchen, and no cooking allowed
[they say the wiring that is supposed to be new as of 2000 won't support a
microwave.]That is a rooming house!

For an additional 250 I could have an actual studio with
kitchen-AND-bathroom apartment all to myself [and the mice/roaches/whatever
;-(] in the same area.

What you can get for 2500 boggles the mind. And we thought Ct was expensive
to live in? Master A - your old housing situation was positively cheap
compared to SanFran [with or without the rice-a-roni]

At least the neighborhood has its own Whole Foods store!
