You might want to update your file to include the note that "shortbread"
was purchased for the Earl of Angus's household in 1608. In another
instance flour to make it was supplied to the baker for another batch.
This is based on unpublished household accounts and is cited in The
Laird's Kitchen 300 Years of Food in Scotland which was produced by the
National Library of Scotland, HMSO, 1994. The work was edited by Olive
M. Geddes. This predates the OED references by decades.
