Dogs, of course, are also carnivores.  When my husband was a boy, his family
owned a poodle who liked pancakes.  On Sunday mornings, the last of the
pancake batter would be cooked into one large pancake and placed into the
dog's bowl.  She would sit patiently, not taking a single bite -- until the
maple syrup had been added.
