[Sca-cooks] Can coffee urns be used for cooking?

Thanks for the feedback on this idea so far - there's a lot to consider
here.

More thoughts and general responses:

Coffee residue/taint wouldn't be an issue as I'd only try it with a new
(but cheap) machine.

While insulated drink coolers would be useful for keeping sauces/soups
warm, I also want the ability to cook the sauce/soup without taking up
priceless stove burners.

The West Bend site says that their coffee makers heat the coffee to
somewhere between 180 and 200 degrees (F), that it takes about half an
hour, and notes that heating liquids other than coffee "... can damage
the heating unit and voids the warranty" (though surprisingly enough,
tea is specifically mentioned as one of the forbidden liquids).

Note that the "cups" they give measurements in are 5 1/2 oz. servings
of coffee and not the 8 oz. cups one might expect. This means that the
42 cup urn actually holds about 29 cups (a little over 7 quarts)
compared to the expected 10 1/2 quarts).
