Murphy's wood oil is good for that sort of thing; follow the directions, and work outside, if possible.

  I just bought my first auction item ever which is a finished solid cedar 
  chest.  It looks like it has a little dirt/something else on it.  What 
  should I use to clean it and/or polish it up?
