Don't know about shrimp but crabs I like steamed without Old Bay (hate the 
stuff) and eaten dipped in butter and white vinegar.  I tend to add a touch 
of vinegar to the mix when making crabcakes or salmon cakes too.  There is a 
period recipe for mussels cooked in either wine or vinegar in the broth 
which is very good.
