I have a small rubber scraper I use to push the larger stuff down to where
the blades will chop it up.

I've used my food processor for over 20 years and have never been able to
get the same exact results as using a cutting board and knife. Of course, I
don't think the final dish tastes any different whether the onions are
*precisely* quarter inch cubes or chopped in the food processor. Time cost
vrs. taste benefit.

Here's an example of time cost vrs taste benefit. Use the food processor,
just don't process until the peppers and onions are mush. Put in some onion
pieces, pulse a few times, take out the larger bits, dump the smaller stuff
out of the processor. Put in more onion pieces, and finally put in all the
larger bits you've saved back. I only have to do this when I'm making large
quantities of salsa. I save using knives for uncooked dishes like salads,
where food-processed vegetables would be too watery.
