Johnnae, I think your point is very valid.  Modern American towns are not
self sufficient having stocked supplies for only a few days to acouple of
weeks..  Without resupply, how fast do you run out of food and fuel?  It is
usually four to six weeks to get a garden running.  Can you convert your
power generation to produce electricity under the new conditions?  We lost
the natural gas, stream or whatever, now what do we do?  How fast will the
cartridges run out?  How can we get an ammo mill up and running?

They've been dropped into an early modern warzone and local conditions are
going to be the rule very quickly.  Famine, pestilence and primative
artillery give history a real big edge over time travelling moderns.
