You know, as I sit here with a somewhat-less-crowded-than-usual 
underside to the Christmas tree, I can reflect on the phone call I 
just got concerning a friend who does not, in fact, have an 
inoperable brain tumor. Yes, Virginia... all the rest is gravy (and
