Hey food history and chocolate fans:

I just got a press release from the Culinary Historians of Southern
California, "Dedicated to pursuing food history and the culinary
collections at the Los Angeles Public Library."  Their next event is a
panel discussion on Sunday, February 8, 2003 at 10:30 a.m., at the LA
Central Library's Mark Taper Auditorium, 630 West Fifth Street downtown
Los Angeles.  Topic is "Chocolate Through The Ages" with speakers Jan
Gasco (Cal State Dominguez Hills), W. Warner Wood (Natural History
Museum of LA), Robert Small (California Polytechnic University and Dr.
Bob's Hand Crafted Ice Cream).  The audience will also get a preview of
a chocolate exhibition which arrives at the Natural History Museum of
