     There was definitely lots of religious symbolism, but the agnus dei
is the Lamb of God (Jesus).  I can't remember the correspondences for
sure, but the four apostles had symbols that I *think* were: Luke, ox;
John, eagle; Mark, lion; and Matthew, man.  So the eagle for the Bishop
may have been for John
