Unfortunately, I deleted them before my friend Iain told me to save them and pass them to him so he could track the miscreant. And yes, my personal accounts and the one list I actually moderate seem to be the only places they have really shown up, even though the return addresses say they are from other lists. I've run the latest patch for Macafee, and it says no viruses on my system. Beyond that, all I can do is pass them to Iain if I get anymore. I trust him to treat the offender appropriately.

Nothing like that has been posted to this list yesterday or the day before.

One things is to figure out whether the spate of messages you
received actually came from one person, or were sent by a virus.

Did you recognize the name of the sender? (Of course lists have
lurkers, so perhaps it was someone you don't know.)

But many of the current viruses spoof sender addresses, so it could
have come from someone else, not the name and e-mail address in the
"From" line. And the person whose computer the virus is affecting
might not have even written the nasty message, but it could be an
artifact of the virus...

I assume you have already thrown them away. If not, look at the
expanded headers with someone you trust who is computer savvy. It
*may* be possible to figure out where the messages really came from.

Heck, i got a virus from "myself" apparently from my previous ISP -
who is now long out of business. So i know it came from somewhere
else, not myself from years past :-) Since most of the viruses around
take advantage of problems in certain Microsoft products for PCs, i'm
not affected by these, since i'm not on a PC using Microsoft
products...
