As I recall, this is the stewards inventory of one of Charlemagne's small
estates.  It is a snapshot of "on hand" equipment and supplies and doesn't
tell much of anything about increase and expenditures of the estate.  Also
from memory, it doesn't even tell what time of year the inventory was taken,
although I suspect it is Spring or Fall.

The Capitulare de Villis is another good source as it is the instruction to
the stewards as to what they waht the are to grow on the estates.

Both of these are in the Florilegium, taken from Ogg, the same source being
used by Fordham.

I think you're right about the barley.
