Well, I'm not too happy with it and neither are a bunch of cooks. I can
understand
the financial people worrrying about feasts losing money. The reputations of
feasts
in Atenveldt isn't very good. But I still think there are better ways than
regulating
every aspect of the feast. And I'm also a bit miffed that Her Majesty is
using the
Coronation feast as the scapegoat to enact this. Actually my feast did not
lose money.
Coronation lost money. My feast broke even based on what I was paid even if
we
only did feed 80 instead of the estimated 120 that I cooked for. And the
only reason
we only fed 80 was because someone in charge of gate screwed up.

We not only had people on a stand-by list, there were also a lot of folk who
wanted
to have the feast that day but were told it was impossible without a
reservation.
If someone had been on the ball and realized that only 80 of the
pre-reserved tokens
had been handed out and then opened up the rest of the slots there would
have
been no shortage of diners. As it was, I was given $400 to do a feast and if
80
people paid $5 then it broke even. The event lost money, not my feast.

>If I were to have followed that criteria for some of our shire events, I'd
>only have
>been allowed to cook for about 20 people, when I ended up cooking for 80
>because I waited
>until the Wednesday or Thursday before the event to determine what my
>maximum
>number would be.

At the beginning I was only going to cook for 75 once I was warned of the
limited
turnout for feasts. But was assured that it would be much bigger than that
by the
Event Steward based on the number of reservations. We actually had people on
a
waiting list by the time the event rolled around. This loss was the result
of mismanagement
by the gate and not by the cooks.
